- In anime, this song was written by Kaguya Shirayuri.
- The lyrics contain various references to Japanese folklore.
- In the The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, Princess Kaguya sends five princes on impossible tasks, which included retrieving a jeweled branch from the mythical island of Horai, a jewel from the neck of a dragon, and a cowry shell from a swallow. She also wears a feathered robe as she returns to the moon.
- The final chorus talks of the Moon rabbit, said to pound mochi using a mortar and pestle.
